Charlie Hawks is a vibrant name in Melbourne’s creative scene, blending design and photography with an infectious energy. His journey is all about family influences, city vibes, and artistic collaborations.
Recently, he transformed his lofty space by teaming up with fellow creative,
Henry King to assemble a Slideaway Sofa Bed, exploring its cozy colors and versatile configurations. “I can recommend it for sudoku, sleeping, reading, tea sipping, and so much more!”
Part 1 : Style & Collaboration
Charlie's style is all about close-ups that feel familiar yet slightly off-kilter. He’s known for his dynamic use of flash. “I love how it ignites a scene and makes it feel different than normal life,” he explains. He met fellow creative Henry King in a shared studio in Melbourne, and their collaboration has become a highlight of his work life. “He’s just the most pleasant and collaborative person to work with,” Charlie shares.
Part 2 : Life in Fitzroy North
Living in Fitzroy North, Charlie loves the laid-back vibe and easy access to everything. “I love everything about it. Truly. It’s the perfect distance from all life’s necessities,” he says. His favorite local haunt? The Canning St. bike path—ideal for zipping around on a sunny day.
On weekends, you’ll find him at the Carlton Farmer's Market, coffee in hand, picking up fresh veggies and indulging in Masses Bagels. “Hopefully Masses Bagels is making their unreal tartines. What could be better?”
Part 3 : Weekend Favorites
Charlie’s ideal Saturday? Coffee, a bike ride to the market, and cooking up a storm with friends. And for breakfast, he swears by the Potato Head with chipotle from Egg Lab—“I swear it is the best bacon and egg roll on the planet!”
When friends come to town, he takes them on a foodie adventure: cookies at Falco, shopping at the Rose St. Market, and ending with a crispy pork bahn mi from Trang.
Part 4 : Home Sweet Home
Charlie’s current home is a dream come true—an old warehouse in Fitzroy North
that he’s always improving. “I never want to leave. I just want to keep improving it,” he laughs.
When he’s not shooting, he’s binging shows like Suits or watching Bon Appétit videos. “Home makes me feel relaxed, composed, and safe,” he says, emphasizing his love for hosting friends and creating joyful memories.
Part 5 : Looking Ahead
So, what’s on tomorrow’s agenda? “Tomorrow I have to shoot on a Saturday! Dang. Hopefully, I’ll make it down to the farmer's market for a bagel before then!”
Charlie Hawks is all about living creatively and enjoying the ride. With his roots in design and love for Melbourne, he’s crafting a life that’s uniquely his own.
