There’s a moment, just after you get home, where everything settles.

Shoes off. Bags down. The noise of everywhere else fades a little. For Christina Macpherson, a travel writer and creative content producer, model, and mum who is often moving between places, that moment matters.

We spent an afternoon chatting about what it means to return. Not just physically, but mentally. How she slows down, what she reaches for, and the small things that make a space feel like hers again.

You spend so much of your life exploring the world. When you finally land back home, what does that first quiet moment feel like?

It feels like a big, happy sigh. I love travelling and exploring, but I also really love being at home and nesting. There’s something very calming about sitting down and resting in a space you’ve created.

With such a fast-paced career, how do you slow down when you’re back in your own space?

It can be very full-on at times, especially working in business with your partner and studying full-time. Sometimes I get very dramatic and overwhelmed! But I try not to wear busyness like a badge of honour. When we’re home, we stick to the simple things: board games, cooking, reading.

What’s one corner of your home that feels most like you?

Probably the living room. It’s where everything seems to land: books, Sunny’s drawings, friends dropping by, wine glasses. It just feels comfy and inviting.

The Eclipse Sofa sits in your space. What was it about that piece that felt right for how you unwind and gather?

I loved that it felt lived-in and not too formal. It’s a piece you just want to sink into and relax.

When your life moves quickly, how do you make sure your home remains a place of pause?

I think it’s about protecting that space and that feeling of home, and remembering that spaces don’t need to be filled all the time. The quiet, in-between moments are there to reset and reconnect.

There’s no single way to create a feeling of home. Just small, thoughtful choices that make you want to stay a little longer.
