Still B Corp. Still at it.

It was not always the plan.

When Ken and Amanda launched Eva from a self-storage unit in North Melbourne in 2017, they were stealing the building's Wi-Fi and learning business from library books. Sustainability was not the founding brief. Great products, fairly priced, delivered fast. That was it.

"Initially, we were just trying to build this premium brand," Amanda says. "We were donating our returned mattresses to charity. But after a couple of years, we realised these charities no longer needed mattresses. So we switched our focus to sustainability because we still wanted to do good and give back somehow."

That shift changed everything about how Eva designs.

What B Corp actually means

B Corp certification is an independent audit. Not self-reported, not a logo you apply for. The B Lab assesses a business across five areas: governance, workers, community, environment and customers. Every three years, you prove it again.

Eva first certified in 2022. Recertified in 2025, until 2028.

The score moved from 84.9 in 2022 to 90.2 in 2025. That is not a small jump. It reflects three years of work across every part of the business, from how we treat our team to how we source our materials.

The biggest gains were in how we look after our workers and how we care for the environment. Both moved meaningfully. Neither was an accident.

What it looks like in your home

"For us, it was never about making products for the sake of it," Amanda says. "Creating products that end up in landfills wastes resources, time, effort and expertise. So we bring longevity into mind when designing."

That thinking is visible in everything Eva makes.

The timber in our furniture is FSC certified and sustainably sourced. Our Timber Bed Frame is manufactured using zero-waste processes, with every offcut repurposed or reused. The finish is low-VOC Osmo Oil, safe for your home and the environment.

The foam in our sofas is CFC-free. The foam in our mattresses is upcycled from offcuts, certified to both CertiPur-US and OEKO-TEX standards. When a mattress reaches the end of its life, our Soft Landing partnership helps recycle it rather than send it to landfill.

Every sofa, sofa bed, and bed frame cover in the Eva range is removable and washable. That is a longevity decision as much as a convenience one. A cover you can refresh is a piece that stays in your home longer. A piece that stays in your home longer is one that never ends up on the kerb.

The piece we are most proud of lately

The Eclipse Sofa introduced feather-down back cushions to the Eva range for the first time. That sink-in feeling is difficult to describe and immediately obvious when you sit down.

Responsible sourcing was non-negotiable. The standard for how feather is collected varies widely across the industry. Ours meets certified welfare standards. Because the comfort of a cushion should not come at a cost elsewhere.

Why we keep doing it

"We want our customers to be connected with our pieces for their everyday moments," Amanda says, "and take comfort in knowing that each piece is ethically and sustainably considered."

That is what this recertification means. Not a milestone. Not a badge on a shelf. A confirmation that the decisions we are making, from the timber we source to the foam we upcycle to the mattresses we help recycle, are still the right ones.

None of this happens without people choosing thoughtfully. Every time you buy something made to last instead of something made to be replaced, it counts.

We are proud to be B Corp certified until 2028. More than that, we are proud to be building something that reflects the values of the people who believe in it.
