We all know the classic Christmas dinner roast or the seafood special that’s the centrepiece of the table each year. But for this 22nd day of Eva Advent, we wanted to expand our palates and find some Christmas recipes from other parts of the world.
Here are some recipes to try this season if you’re feeling adventurous!
Potato Latkes from Eastern Europe
The potato latke is often made by European Jewish people for the holiday of Hannukah (often around the same time we celebrate Christmas). They are made from fried grated potato, and can feature other ingredients such as onion, cheese and eggs. They are warm, bite-size and very tasty. Click here for a full recipe!
Buñuelos from Columbia
We got this recipe idea from our product developer Susie who is from Columbia and shares many memories of Christmas over there (which you can see over on our Tiktok for the 15th Advent day). These buñuelos are round cheese fritters that are deep-fried. Click here for the recipe!
Rum cake from the Caribbean
For dessert, we head to the Caribbean for a heavily spiced and decadent rum cake. The art of soaking cake in an alcoholic drink is one synonymous with Christmas, so we didn’t want to miss it this time. Plus, it means it will keep for a long time, so you can extend the Christmas feeling for longer. We love the sound of this recipe.
Let us know if you try any of these recipes over on our Instagram @eva.home - we love to see mouthwatering snaps of your food. See you in the kitchen!
