Big news! We’re proud to share that Eva has been recertified as a B Corp for 2025–2028.
This isn’t just a badge of honour (though we’ll happily wear it). It’s recognition of the way we choose to operate — prioritising people and the planet just as much as profit. Being a certified B Corporation means that we meet high standards of social and environmental performance, transparency, and accountability. And more than that, it means we’re constantly evolving — not just meeting benchmarks, but raising them.
Our recertification score rose from 84.9 in 2022 to 90.2 in 2025. That jump reflects three years of hard work across every corner of our business, from the warehouse floor to our design philosophy. So whether you’re sitting on one of our sofas or sleeping soundly on a bed frame we’ve spent years perfecting — you’re part of something bigger, too.
Let’s break it all down.
What is a B Corp, exactly?
A B Corp — short for B Corporation — is a company that’s been independently verified to meet high standards of social and environmental performance, transparency, and accountability. The certification is run by B Lab, a global nonprofit network that’s transforming the way business operates — and who it serves — by helping companies balance purpose with profit.
Unlike traditional certifications that focus on a single issue (like carbon emissions or ethical sourcing), B Corp takes a holistic view. To become certified, companies are assessed across five key pillars: Governance, Workers, Community, Environment, and Customers. It’s not about being perfect — it’s about showing progress, integrity, and a willingness to improve.
Eva first earned B Corp certification in 2022, after embarking on the process in 2021. Since then, we’ve made ongoing improvements to embed positive impact into every part of our business. Our 2025 recertification score? 90.2.

Let’s take a closer look at where we grew — and where we’re continuing to do the work.
Putting people first: Workers & customers
One of our biggest score increases was in the Workers category — jumping from 17.5 to 21.1. This reflects the improvements we’ve made in staff well-being, internal policies, and our commitment to fair and inclusive work environments. Our team is the beating heart of Eva, and this increase reflects something we care about deeply: ensuring everyone who helps bring Eva to life feels supported and seen.
We also saw growth in the Customers category — from 2.7 to 3.5 — a sign that our efforts to design responsibly, listen to our community, and provide exceptional service are paying off. Whether it's the quality of our products or the transparency of our practices, we’re here to deliver more than just good-looking furniture — we’re here to earn your trust.
Big strides for the planet: Environment
From circular design practices to responsible materials sourcing, sustainability is stitched into everything we do — and our impact score in the Environment category reflects that. In 2022, we scored 9.1. In 2025, we hit 13.1.
Some of the initiatives behind this jump include:
- Zero-waste timber manufacturing: Our award-winning Timber Bed Frame is designed using FSC-certified wood and crafted to produce virtually no waste. Every offcut is repurposed or reused.
- Low-VOC, non-toxic finishes: We prioritise materials that are safe for your home and the environment.
- Longer product lifecycles: From flat-pack simplicity to repairable design, we’re committed to keeping furniture in homes — not landfills.
A community-first mindset
Our Community score dipped slightly from 42.1 to 38.8. Why? In short: fewer product returns.
While this sounds like a good thing (and it is — our customers are loving what they keep), returns had previously helped fuel our partnership with charities like the Salvation Army, allowing us to donate gently used items to those in need. With fewer returns, we had fewer physical products to donate.
But our commitment to community hasn’t wavered — it’s simply grown in different directions. Over the past three years, we’ve:
- Hosted a B Corp panel at the Eva Carlton House during B Corp Month, encouraging collaboration across businesses with a shared vision for a better future.
- Supported local creatives through partnerships and showcases during Melbourne Design Week with our exhibition, FRAY.
- Carried out the “Bum Test” — delivering a sofa to a new parent who couldn’t leave the house, just so they could try it for themselves.
For us, being a good neighbour means staying nimble, listening often, and showing up in meaningful ways. Even when we’re not making a headline about it.
Progress over perfection
We know we’re not perfect. The road to better business is long and full of learning curves. But we’re committed to walking it, and B Corp certification gives us a framework to measure how we’re doing — and where we can do better.
That means constantly reviewing how we operate. Whether it’s taking steps to reduce packaging waste, sourcing more ethical materials, or prioritising people and well-being in our day-to-day, we’re here for the long game.
Our updated B Impact Assessment is more than a report card. It’s a reminder that values-led business can (and should) be the standard.
What B Corp means for you
When you shop with a B Corp — especially a certified furniture brand — you’re choosing a business that cares about what happens after the checkout.
At Eva, we’re not just making sofas or bed frames. We’re crafting spaces that support rest, connection, and sustainability. From the first sketch on the design board to the delivery at your doorstep, we’re thinking about impact at every stage.
As a customer, you can feel confident that:
- Our materials are vetted for safety, quality, and environmental responsibility.
- Our products are built to last — reducing waste, and saving you from repeat purchases.
- Our pricing reflects a balance between accessibility and ethical production.
- Our team is supported by fair policies, diverse hiring, and a culture that values people.
- Our business decisions are made with your well-being (and the planet’s) in mind.
What’s next?
Over the next three years, we’re diving deeper into the areas we know matter most — like sustainable design innovation, social responsibility, and meaningful community partnerships.
We’re especially excited about:
- Exploring more circular design systems across our product range.
- Continuing to support causes and communities doing good work locally.
- Sharing more of the behind-the-scenes work that drives our commitment to better business.
- Because B Corp isn’t just a one-time badge. It’s a belief system. One that says business can be bold, transparent, and — above all — human.
Thank you
If you’ve ever shopped with us, shared your feedback, followed our journey, or just been curious about what we stand for — thank you. This milestone wouldn’t be possible without the community that surrounds us.
We’re proud to be B Corp recertified for 2025–2028. But even more so, we’re proud to be building a business that reflects the values of the people who believe in it. People like you.
Here’s to continuing the work — and doing it together.
